DPSC Limited SYSTEM consists mainly of 2 generating stations one each at Chinakuri and Dishergarh and two 11KV networks one covering Dishergarh and Chinakuri areas and the other covering Seebpore, Luchipur and Satgram areas. The present generating capacity of Chinakuri Power Station (CPS) is 30MW . Generating Capacity of Dishergarh Power Station is about 12MW .The Generating Stations are basically providing survival power requirement to our consumers. These generating stations supply 42MW power out of our total requirement of 122 MW. The balance power is mainly drawn from DVC's system at four intake points viz., Dishergarh, Satgram, Seebpore and Luchipur. The Power from DVC system is taken at 33 KV and it is then stepped down to 11 KV for distribution for our consumers. The Company's generation meets about 32% of its system demand, while the balance 68% is sourced from DVC and WBSEB.The system details are as follows :

Power Distribution: Network System

The present peak load of the company is 122 MW and Power is supplied predominantly at 11kv.Around 32% of the load is met from own generation , while the balance is met through imports of power from DVC and WBSEB.Imports of power take place from DVC at four points spread over its licensed area and from WBSEB at one point. The Company supplies power to WBSEB consumer at 18 different points in its licensed area spread over Asansol/Raniganj Coal & Industrial belts.

Power Distribution: Sales

Growth Due to

  • Maintaining & supplying good quality power to its consumers.

  • Development of New Industries in the licensed area.

  • Increase in sales of the Energy.

  • Reduce Auxiliary and Coal Consumptions in the power stations.

  • Reduce T&D Losses.

  • Maximize generation from own low-cost generating station (CPS).

System Loss

DPSC Limited is maintaining a testing laboratory with sizeable work force to improve metering system and to arrest commercial losses as well.

Major activities undertaken for the last two / three years:

  • Introduction of microprocessor based State-of the -Art static meter in consumer premises.
  • Introduction of new tamper proof metering box / cubicle to reduce attempt of theft.
  • Improvement of meter sealing system.
  • Phasing out existing meters by good quality meters.
  • Increasing vigilance for supervision and checking of meter readings.
  • System study of the consumers' point including load pattern and period of operation.
  • Computerized billing and follow up action.
  • Augmentation of overloaded overhead / underground lines.
  • Improvement of system power factor by way of installing reactive power compensation units.
  • Shifting of Distribution / Power Receiving Points at load centres.
  • Installation of 132 kV / 33 kV capacitors to maintain quality of power to consumers

The total load of the system is 122 MW. Due to restriction on constructing 33 KV Transmission network due to DVC Act, the distribution had to be done at 11KV.In spite of the above limitation, the T&D loss is in the range of 6% which is one of the lowest in the country.

Consumer Profile

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is the single largest consumer of the Company constituting 60% of the Load of the Company. About 25% of the Load is that of WBSEB who buy power from DPS at 11 KV. Balance 15% of the load absorbed by other industries and by essential services like Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Pumping Stations, Railways, TV & Radio Stations Etc.
